It's finally that time again! The time when all kids in Texas "have their brains measured." I'm talking about the TAKS (Texas Academic Knowledge Skills) Testing. "I think the math section was easy," says Daniella Serrano, an eighth grader at W.E. Greiner Middle School. "It was easy and hard. They should make it less confusing," said Ashley Rodriguez, a student at L.V. Stockard Middle School. Some parents aren't as excited about the test as the students are, though. I had a couple of parents say that they don't think the test should determine whether their child passes or not. But, we had one parent who was okay with the test, but not okay with the approach. "If they're going to change the test, they should make sure the students have competent teachers," she said. It looks like the TAKS test is going make a big change in the future to me.
